Five seconds remained in the contest on Friday, Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul failed to score a layup with the score of 126-117 in the game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Larry Nance Jr. grabbed the rebound and then tossed it for Zion Williamson, who did not choose to stop the clock and instead made an impact with an all-round windmill.
Paul moved towards Paul walked towards the Pelicans bench to express his displeasure at a group which he has ties with, such as the head coach Willie Green. Then, New Orleans guard Jose Alvarado was able to respond to Paul and, when Green intervened to ensure both guards were separated and both benches walked towards the Pelicans bench to cause a dispute.
Suns assistant coach Kevin Young had words in Green’s direction. At this point, players seem eager to prove they will not back down from any fight. New Orleans wing Naji Marshall was among the players, ready to talk towards the Suns and gently shove Phoenix centre Jock Landale back after Landale was in his face.
Then we got to our final stage of the dispute, which was the peacekeepers performing their duties. Large guys Jonas Valanciunas and Larry Nance Jr. ensured that they and the Pelicans teammates weren’t in close proximity to any player from the Suns and others such as Suns Guard Cam Payne kept the conversation running from an in-between distance.
Phoenix Coach Monty Williams appeared frustrated that everyone was still on the court. He then instructed his entire team to get off by grabbing Paul. After they left, Alvarado kept jawing, that caused them to take some time to process the situation before walking away from the court.
Williamson’s bulletin board to The Suns will be something that Phoenix will immediately use. The two teams will play once more at New Orleans on Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m.
