Quarterback Zach Wilson endured a torrid night, only to be removed from the game after his team New York Jets were beaten 19-3 by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday.
Wilson was heckled at various times throughout the game before being substituted with Chris Streveler in the third quarter, after completing the nine passes of 18, for just 92 yards.
“I don’t blame themfor that,” Wilson told reporters when asked about the fans’ boos. We have a devoted fans and they’re there to witness the team win touchdowns.
“We’re getting no touchdowns We’re not getting first downs We’re not moving the ball, and obviously, we’re not throwing the ball. Naturally, they’ll be annoyed.”
When the rain came down on a gloomy night at MetLife Stadium Wilson appeared out of out of sorts as the Jets fell to their fourth consecutive loss – a significant blow to the team’s chances of winning the playoffs.
Wilson is the number. 2 overall draft pick for 2021. Wilson is struggling to find consistency in his two seasons with the Jets.
“I was feeling like I wasn’t finding my rhythm,” added Wilson. “I tried to gain some confidence on the field. simply find something that would keep us going with a bit of a spark. I didn’t find anything.”
Jets director of football Robert Saleh decided to replace Wilson with Streveler who had been promoted out of the squad for practice prior to the game on Thursday.

Streveler offered a few moments of optimism in his debut in the season opener He completed 10 of fifteen passes to gain 90 yards.

“Obviously I’m sure Zach was struggling however, Streveler was in, played several plays, and sparked the offense and then he scored the game-changing play, and it all exploded in a positive way and it was important to allow him an chance to complete the drive,” Saleh told reporters.
“We aren’t done with seeing the last of Wilson. He’s need to find ways to improve his performance and we’ll have to come up with ways to help him.
“It’s not only him, it’s a collective and we’re all required to figure out ways to become better.”
While the Jets have to lick their wounds while the Jaguars are able to celebrate their third straight win, in their final season rise.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the No.1 overall pick of the draft last year He completed 20 of his 31 passing passes, netting 229 yards. Lawrence leapt in for the one and only touchdown of the game.
