“Outer Banks” star Chase Stokes could have been offered the role of a lifetime on “Stranger Things” “… had he remembered his lines from the audition.
Stokes said to Access Hollywood on Tuesday that when he tried to audition for the part as Steve Harrington, he forgot all his lines, in the audition and “absolutely effed up the audition.” He also said that He was “regretting every moment” of it following the performance.
The actor Joe Keery ultimately landed the part of the reluctant chaperone in the sci-fi thriller series of the 1980s and Stokes does not have any qualms about his role.

“Joe Keery is an absolute legend and he’s so damn good as Steve Harrington,” Keery said. “I’m super proud of him.”
The whole thing worked out for Stokes however. Although he was not cast in the role, “Stranger Things” creators Matt and Ross Duffer found a place for him in an episode from the premiere season. He plays Reed, an aspiring high school student who is bullied by Nancy Wheeler. Nancy Wheeler.
Then , in 2020, he was cast in the role of lead actor on Netflix’s acclaimed North Carolina-set show “Outer Banks.” Stokes is an enthralling John B. Routledge, who leads a group members on an epic quest to uncover treasures and secrets connected to his father’s disappearance.
Stokes admits he’s grateful to his time with the Duffer brothers, and points to the chance of auditioning for Netflix executives and later be a part of the cast on “Outer Banks” – as what pushed him to pursue his career.
If it wasn’t for those Duffers brothers stated, “I wouldn’t be here.”
The season 3 of “Outer Banks” premiered on Thursday.
