Is Yaya DaCosta Reappearing in the role of April Sexton in ‘Chicago Med”?

He was 39 years old. played ED nurses April Sexton on the show from the first season to the sixth as well as the role on Chicago Fireand when it crossed paths alongside Chicago P.D.

DaCosta was a part-time cast member of Chicago Medat at the close of season 6 however, season 8 been her first appearance in the show along with Showrunners Andrew Schneider and Diane Frolov have shared the implications of this for her future.

In the premiere of season 8 DaCosta’s April came back in the episode when she was visited by Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) found her paying tributes at his father’s grave.

The ex-lovers were friendly with one the other, talking about the fact that neither of them was got married since the breakup in season 6. April claimed that she works as nursing assistant in Chicago.

In the sixth season, April had left Gaffney Chicago Medical Center to explore a new career path after being accepted into the nurse practitioner program.

Schneider along with Frolov have both said that the premiere of season 8 isn’t the last time viewers will see DaCosta’s character in the show.

Interview with TVLine the show’s producers stated that DaCosta was set to return in April rolls around on Chicago Med,though they didn’t say whether she would be returning as an ongoing cast member or only performing guest appearances.

DaCosta was the host of his show Our Kind of Peopleafter having left Chicago Med,but the show was pulled within one season. Schneider and Frolov claimed they believed that the Fox cancelled show was in no way due to DaCosta’s return.

Schneider stated: “That wasn’t why. It was an idea that we had last season to bring her back for Dr. Choi, and [DaCosta] was amenable to come back. It wasn’t like we were waiting for her series to get cancelled. The timing happened to work out well for us.”

Frolov said: “And she will be back in a couple more episodes. She will have a big storyline.”

When asked when fans might expect DaCosta to reappear on the show, Frolov said that she would be back in episode 5; Schneider claimed that viewers’ concerns about DaCosta’s character, such as their relationship to Ethan the character, will “be addressed” in the upcoming episodes.

In a reflection on the growth of April as a nurse practitioner, Schneider said: “She’s really different. She’s grown, professionally and emotionally, and it really compliments the changes that have occurred in Ethan’s emotional life.”
