Doja Cat impressed all who saw her arrive at Schiaparelli’s runway show on Monday in a striking head-to-toe look, adorned with red body paints and 30,000 Swarovski Crystals.
Pat McGrath, the makeup artist, created the eye-catching look. Her team spent nearly five hours creating it.
The arrival of the singer at Paris’ Petit Palais marked a dramatic beginning to Schiaparelli’s Couture Spring-Summer 2023 Show, which was the opening event for the biannual Haute Couture Week. Roseberry’s show notes reveal that the label’s newest collection, “Inferno Couture”, was inspired by Dante’s “Inferno” as well as the nine circles in hell.
Doja Cat wore a silk bodice, a skirt with lacquered wooden beads, and matching red boots.
McGrath posted Monday’s social media post describing the look as “Doja’s Inferno.” McGrath also shared a behind-the scenes video in which her makeup artists painted the skin of the star and applied thousands of crystals manually.
McGrath described Roseberry’s “sublime patience,” as “inspiring” in a caption to another video. Roseberry, the American who became the first American to run a French couture house in 2019, posted a photo of himself with Doja cat to Instagram, while honoring the “genius” makeup artist.
Doja Cat was accompanied by stylist Brett Alan Nelson. He wore a matching red suit with a long jacket from Vetements. Kylie Jenner was also present and she took a seat in front of her with a strapless black velvet gown with faux lion head.
Other items from Schiaparelli’s faux-taxidermy were also on the runway. Naomi Campbell and Irina Shahk wore similar animal head dresses on the catwalk.
